April Self Portraits

For this April's self-portraits we wanted to do something different that would be able to so just how much each of the orange children's art is unique and different from one another. This was a two-day project, that we first started with paint mixing sticks glued into a frame and acrylic paint. We made sure that we included the children's favorite colors out; to allow their personalities to shine and it's a great form of self-identity.

"Orange is my favorite !" - E.V

"RED! Because I'm mad and it's my favorite" - I.L

"Orange and green are my two favorite colors"- L.B

"Just like this, lots of colors" - A.A

"Blue and purple are my favorite" - B.E

"I'm doing it very carefully, because it has to look beautiful"- I.S

"Pretty! Look" - E

"I want a to make it a rainbow color"- L.M

For the second part of our portraits, we added Vinyl Sticker Paper that is translucent and hot glued it on to the back of the picture frames. I went ahead and stuck the children's pictures that we took of each one this week and placed it in the middle, so they would be able to use loose parts around their picture. For loose parts we used different size strings, gems, nature sequins, and textured scrapping paper cut in different sizes and shapes. I have to say this project was one that they all seemed to really enjoy making and each one looked so different.

Here is a glance of how some came out.

Today in honor of   Yom HaAtzmaut (The Declaration of Independence of Israel) we got to watch the upper school display a parade for EC and we got to have cupcakes with a dance party.
